My blog updates have been cracking along at an absolute snails pace recently - I apologise for the lack of new ideas and inspiration! Sometimes life just seems to get in the way, you know.
I'll do my best to return to daily posting with lots of new and lovely discoveries soon ....

Pia feeds my daydreams ...
One of my favourite blogs is that of Pia-Jane Bijkerk. She collects the most beautiful images and ideas, which never fail to delight.
Here are some of the lovely finds she led me to today:
- dreamy bubble portraits by Julianne Swarz
- Frederico Uribe's amazingly tactile sculptures
- simple and sweet Little Drifters
- Robert and Shana Parkeharrison's enigmatic and evocative photographs (I think I've blogged about their work before .... will have to trawl through my archives ...)
Whose blogs regularly point you to beautiful new discoveries?

Open is open!
Ahh, yes.
Miss Angela's lovely new blog, Open, provides snapshots of Melbourne's independent shops and cafes for the good people of blogland to peruse. Those of you who happen to live in this arty little city - get ready to feel super-inspired, jump on your bikes and go exploring too!

Looks rather nice so far, Miss A.!

Things that go bump in the night
My sister sent me a link to this amusing post from Antonia of Whoopee.

Oh yes .... I think I lived in the same apartment a few years ago (the memories are flooding back!).

Sweet, sweet wayfaring ...

If you're in the mood for moseying about the Australian bush, it's worth taking a peep at Joan Elizabeth's Blue Mountains Journal (and maybe also her other blog, Sweet Wayfaring, where she records slices of her life in the city). I love her attention to detail, and the beautiful images she captures and chooses to share.
Here are a just few of her photos, but there are many more over in her part of the interweb:

I should also mention this beautiful blog (discovered via Sweet Wayfaring), in which James Jordan shares his sumptuous photos. *sigh!*

So lovely!

Let me tell you a secret
How remiss of me not to have mentioned one of my favourite blogs until now! if you haven't been there yet, I'd like to introduce you to Secret Notebooks & Wild Pages.

M. Heart's love of nature and design, beautiful photography, and thoughtful contemplation of the world draws me back again and again. Thank you M. Heart! I love your (not so secret) blog notebook.
The photo above is from Secret Noteboooks & Wild Pages, titled 'Bee leaving'
*groan!*

A small milestone reached (but I'm just thinking about hats and shoes)
Apparently this is my 300th post, and I've also just realised that this little blob will be three years old this month. How time flies...
Although I've been a tad disorganised lately, I think a 3rd blogiversary warrants a bit of a giveaway to celebrate. So I will arrange one and post details here soon, I promise!
In the meantime you're more than welcome to browse back through the last 300 snippets of my wafflings, captured as they are in the peculiarities of the Flightless Boyds world. Hope you find something that makes you smile or connects you with a great new cyberspace lead.....
While you do that, I'll just stay here with my cup of tea and covet these beautiful thingies:

** Swoon! **

Hats from from Pachacuti fair trade clothing; shoes from Chie Mihara and Fluevog

Je ne suis qu’une pauvre plume
Last night this lovely lady left a comment on my other little blog, so I skipped on over to take a peep at her 'pog'. I love discovering insightful and engaging writers, and I really enjoyed reading the musings of this "pop culture intellectual" ....

For starters, you might like to peruse this article. I might be a bit biased, as I've had concerns for years about the growing prevalence of the more stupid elements of American culture, even in my home country (that's Australia, not Austrla or Austria).
Your thoughts?

Listening skills
I've been meaning to write about this site for a while now - UK musician Nick Penny has created a wonderful audio diary, documenting sounds from his daily life in a beautiful exploration of the contemporary Northamptonshire landscape. I could spend hours browsing through the varied sound morsels, imagining the settings as I hear a creaky gate closing, workmen removing the facia on a house, a bumblebee seeking escape from indoors, footsteps crunching through frost, wind brushing through pine trees, birds and animals calling to each other ....You can read about Nick here in a BBC article. He quotes part of my email at the end of the story :-)

The Face
My sister sent me a link to this little story about a man's search for the origins of his father's mysteriously abstract sketches (and cake decorations!) - supposedly of a face.
The story's quite long, but rather sweet!
