Blog catch-up #1 ... Creative inspiration
Wow - I feel as though I've been away for ages. But we finally prevailed in our struggles with the evil telephone provider ... our phone line (and therefore internet connection) has been repaired. Huzzah!
So, to catch up .... it seems like much more than 2 weeks ago that I went to this beautiful city for the first time in more than 25 years. There I spent a wonderful weekend with amazing crafty bloggers from all over Australia. Thank you Sheridan, for arranging such a great event again, thank you to my lovely room mates and talented, generous swap partners and all the great gals I had laughs with over the three days! I'm really looking forward to next year's S.I.T. ....
More details and pics to come in a future post, but here are a couple of pics from my phone (as my camera died almost as soon as I got to Sydney).
Oh, and before I went to S.I.T. I bumped into the very lovely Nikki and was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of her new book, which will be available for pre-orders from the ABC shop next month. Nikki is one of those wonderfully creative people who just brightens up the world wherever she goes. Check out her blog and website if you like good patterns or need a creative boost.

Handmade for Japan
As usually happens in difficult times, the handmade/crafting community is rallying together in many countries to raise funds and support for the relief efforts in Japan. Hooray for glorious handmade goods, made with love and shared with others for a good cause!
Handmade for Japan is an American-based online auction through which many exquisite pieces will be sold - check out their auction preview page here, and a little blurb about it here.
Lucky Charm is a Melbourne-based auction that will feature items made by jewellers from near and far. Check it out here.
More than a thousand Etsy sellers are donating sale proceeds to the relief effort (the one below is by Design Twenty-Six), and the good folks at Superbuzzy are safe and well and matching all donations made through their website.

So much creativity and love - greatly needed I'm sure!

Yarnstorming!
In my neighbourhood there are several knitted cosies warming lampposts and signposts. I like this kind of graffiti as it's pretty, creative and non-damaging.
Here are some more examples:

In stitches
.... an entire day of crafting, chatting, laughing and eating with 60 fabulously crafty bloggers from around the country (and even overseas) - now that was just what I needed to lift my spirits!
I had fun today, and when I finally curl up in bed tonight I'm sure my head will still be swimming with images of delicious fabric colour combinations, amazing stitching skills, gorgeous designs, delightful softies, and the warmth created from the collective enthusiasm of such a diverse group of creative women.
Thank you so much to everyone who made today so much fun (especially Sheridan, who orchestrated the whole darn thing!).

Flocking together
I found these birds, made by Abby Glassenberg, on Flickr tonight:
(this one's feathers are actually little hands...)

~ I think some are available at Abby's Etsy shop.
