This morning I viewed some heartbreaking reports about the Stolen Generation and the darker side of Australian history .... it makes me so sad.
At least there's room for hope as well. I hope that today marks the start of a new era.

Special day
Today is an extremely important day for the people of Australia.
This morning I viewed some heartbreaking reports about the Stolen Generation and the darker side of Australian history .... it makes me so sad.

I agree. A very special day.
Great to see that you're passionate about our country's history... Were you aware that Aboriginals were not the only ones involved in the 'stolen generation'.. A lot of white families living in the outback were affected by this tragedy as well, my fathers family was among them. Are they saying sorry to these people??? I think not...
Kevin Rudd's address seems to of been a wonderful step in the right direction for the indigenous community though.

it was such an emotional day. i shed a tear a few days before... couldn't believe it was happening at last. and then we all cried at the time. i was proud of everyone for shunning the opposition when they tried to qualify and lessen their own apology. a beautiful, beautiful moment in our history. Something that matters deeply to indigenous and non-indigenous alike.
