I wrote in July about Lena Hoschek's Spring-Summer collection ... now I'm swooning over her classic tweedy designs for Autumn:
Eeeeek! So fab!
I'll have one of each, please.

Cyrk Polski
I don't like circuses, but I love these old Polish posters:

The other Vargas girl
Wow - I've only just discovered the tattoo art of Valerie Vargas* ...
So here's a scenario for you:
You decide to cover a large part of your body with permanent ink. You could, on the one hand, save up your cashola and engage the services of a seriously skilled artist like Valerie V.
... but then again, you might decide that you're happy with this.

Female flyboys
I don't know much about the WASPs of WWII ...
I plan to spend some time soon reading their stories...

Feeling crafty? Free next Friday? Grab this giveaway!
Recently I was given a gift by the lovely ladies at Amitie - a 2-day workshop with Becky Goldsmith .
The bad news is that I don't think I'll be able to go, so I'd like to give my place to someone else ...
If you're in the Melbourne area, are free on Friday and Sunday next week (September 3 & 5) and would like to join this workshop at Amitie* in Bentleigh, please leave a comment here ASAP!
“The Ground (as seen from above)”
Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th of September, 10 am – 4 pm.
Colour, cut, sew, and improvise as you sew your own interpretation of the ground as seen from an airplane ... Class costs include lunch, morning and afternoon tea.
*Valued at $300 - how could you resist a freebie like this?
I'll draw a name randomly if I get more than one request :-)
Update: Thank you very much to the three lovely girls who put their hands up - I'm sorry I don't have three places to give away! I chose a number randomly using an online generator (despite earlier grand plans to be creative in the selection process), and came up with commenter #2 - Fii!
I hope you have a wonderful time, Fii ...

Crybaby
John from Easily Mused has done some research and produced his findings on why women cry in comics. Here are some of the culprits:
Being a fool
losing a bundle at the dog track
typographical errors
sudden paralysis
fear of leaves
strange reflections
shoulder birds
hypothermia

Election woes
As I watch the federal election coverage, my hopes for progressive leadership are increasingly dashed.
This is our home on election night.
This is our home on election night.
I didn't want to make a spectacle of this ...
I had my eyes tested today, and it turns out I need to get some specs for driving, reading and using the computer.
I've always found it hard to find glasses and hats that suit my face - can any Melbourne gals recommend a place that offers interesting (i.e. not mainstream name brand) styles?
These are some of the models that have caught my eye* this evening, found via Scoogle of Albert Park:
- from Ann et Valentin and Theo Loves You
* eek! no pun intended!
