Squeek!

On Valentine's Day my beloved gave me a cold (how very generous of him!) .... the poor dear had been laid up all weekend and since then we've been sniffling and coughing together. I lost my voice completely yesterday and it hasn't yet returned. Problem is, I'm scheduled to do quite an important presentation at Melbourne Uni this evening, and I haven't been able to find a replacement speaker ....

Hope they have a good microphone to capture my whispered words!

World-wide warmth

Thank you to everyone who's sent me warm wishes... the situation we found ourselves in this week is difficult but I'm sure things will get better soon.

... and thank you to Kathryn, too, who sent me this little bit of homework to take my mind off things. Gotta learn all those sewing machine part names! (there's a ruder version on Regretsy, but let's just keep ourselves nice here, OK?)

Spinal trap

This is me:

A weekend of absolutely glorious autumn weather has been twinkling through my bedroom window, and I'm stuck inside again with major muscle spasms and acute disc pain.

So this is a grumbling post. I've been feeling very sorry for myself; I think I'm growing less tolerant of pain each year (must be turning into a grumpy old woman already!).

I'll write about something bright and cheerful when I'm feeling better.

Déjà vu

Poor old G, feeling rather sore and sorry after another operation ...

Our goal is to get through next year with no more hospital visits!

A big thank you to everyone at the ANZ IPMP who sent a lovely hamper of delicious goodies - I'm sure they'll brighten his week and help him get back on his feet :-)

Luckily we haven't encountered this problem at the hospital yet:

Patience is a virtue

- I know, I know!

Laid up again with prolapsed discs .... it's very fustrating, painful and often completely debilitating. Boooo! I think I have quite a high pain threshold but it does get me down, and I hate the way G has to be my carer when he's busy, tired, or wanting to get out and about.

We had planned to have dinner with Lisa & Bryan tonight but Bryan came to us this morning instead to help me out, eventually sticking a whole lot of needles into my back to treat the inflammation. Eeek!

I've been really keen to get back into regular swing dancing and bike riding lately, especially on these fabulously sunny spring days,

so I guess this is the point where I'll have to commit to a proper rehab routine.....

Hope I'll be jitterbugging soon!

Poor old squished disks

Stuck at home in bed for a week as my back has been causing me grief again ....

- getting rather tired of staring at cracks in the ceiling!
