This evening we had to say goodbye to our beautiful feline friend, Emerson. She suddenly succumbed to the ravages of an advanced tumor and we made the decision to let her go peacefully.
Sleep now, lovely girl.

Dog and mog
It's chilly, grey and windy today, with occasional showers spattering against the windows. I think Gus and Emerson have a few good ideas for staying cosy on a gloomy Sunday afternoon:
1. Find a sunny corner and soak up that sunshine whenever you can

2. Wriggle around on the floor in front of the gas heater

3. Close your eyes tight and snooze in your bed

4. Sneak into some warm, unsupervised bedding while it awaits fresh covers (even though you know this is strictly forbidden!)

5. Share a bed with your best friend and snuggle up tight

6. Don't forget to put on a scarf before you go out in that wind!

Mediawatch
A rather large picture of Gus, Emerson and me is gracing page 17 of today's Age (the Melbourne newspaper), accompanying an article on women who've chosen not to have kids. I think it's funny that while so many of my fellow-bloggers have articles written about their fabulous creations, I get a mention because of what I haven't created...
I don't yet have a copy of the featured picture, but near the bottom of p.22 is another small pic, in which Gus is pulling a funny face:
What a geek!

This is .... the view from my front door
Oooops! Late again in posting pics for the This is ... meme. This week's theme takes a peek outside our front doors :-)
(thank you Angela and Brooke!)
This is the door in question at my house - it looks a bit bleak here but is actually quite welcoming, in warm tones and natural materials:

These are the mischief-makers who like to explore beyond the door:

Here's the dorky pose ....

On the left we share a wall with our neighbour, but on the right, we have a small verandah:

(our scooter lives on the front verandah these days as we haven't yet built a proper place for it in the back garden).
Pop over to Three Buttons to link to other front door vistas if you're interested ...
