Oh Venice - exquisite city .... you have totally captured my heart!
We're certainly getting a workout as we wander through countless backstreets, up and down steps and over bridges, but the wonderful discoveries around every corner always tempt me to explore further.
We wake every morning to the sound of ringing churchbells, footsteps on stone paving and the murmur of conversations drifting up from the narrow lane below our window. What bliss to have no background traffic noise at all throughout the entire city!

It's actually bucketing down again now, so I can't get out to do the weeding .... better get on to some sewing as I wait for Flickr to upload my many, many holiday snaps.
We're enjoying the crisp, late-autumnal weather in Heidelberg, while Melbourne swelters again and bushfires burn in Victoria. We went up to Heidelberg Schloß and had dinner at my friend Nicole's house in Speyer, and tomorrow we're catching up with Anke and Johannes to celebrate St Martin's Day with a traditional feast. We plan to go out to the Pfälzer Wald on Thursday to soak up a little more of the deciduous woodland atmosphere, then it's on to Paris on Friday .... Wheeeee!
