When taking Gus for a run this afternoon, I found a beautiful ring-tail possum lying under a tree, injured.
I gathered up the frightened little thing and placed her carefully in my bicycle basket, then peddled as quickly as I could to the Brunswick Central Vet Clinic.
Poor little possie .... she was so badly injured, the vet had to put her to sleep.
Sweet dreams little one.

Poor thing. It's so sad when the little creatures end up like that. I'm almost dreading spring when baby birds start falling out of their nests again...
ReplyDeleteOh those things are always so heart-wrenchingly sad! But you can take some comfort from the fact that thanks to you, she was put out of her misery and her suffering didn't drag on. Also she experienced some tenderness.
ReplyDeleteNo kindness is ever wasted, no contact with another life is without beauty and meaning.
ReplyDeletethat makes me sad that she passed....but you did the right thing in offering love and kindness in time of need. My kids and I (and even hubby at times) attract 'needfuls.' I think God puts them in our path because he knows we will intervene and help out. Just like you did!
